Wasn’t until I started writing this post that I realized the New Orleans Saints had some pretty darn good fantasy numbers this week. Drew Brees with 34 points, Alvin Kamara with 41, and now Michael Thomas with 40 points. Gee…too bad I don’t have any Saints on my FF team!! Actually that New Orleans-Tampa Bay game ended up being quite the shoot-out. As for Week 2, I have Thomas with a more modest 22 points.
My personal FF team has Julio Jones (Atlanta) on it, so I was happy Thursday night when he racked up 28 points, but seeing Thomas with his 40 and Tyreek Hill (Kansas City) with 36 points, I realized, “not [that] great, Bob!”
As far as Tight Ends, don’t get me started when it comes to my team. I’m not too happy with what the auto-draft gave me, so I’m sure I’ll be making some adjustments throughout the year there for sure.
But seriously, who the heck is Will Dissly (Seattle) with his rookie debut , 105 yards receiving with one TD? I mean, wow! He happened to be a free agent in my league so nobody had him in Week 1. Being a rookie with not much past data to work on (I don’t look at college stats), not surprised my model has him with 37 points this upcoming weekend. Again, intuitively that seems a bit over-inflated, but hey, if it happens, you heard it here first, folks! And, yeah, I picked him up…ahem, so I’m definitely eating my words if he ends up with 4 points or something mediocre like that! No, seriously, with my luck, -1 point!
In any case, here’s the latest predictions for Wide Receivers and then the Tight Ends:

The predictions for this model comes from statistics tables scraped from The Huddle from 2006-2018. As usual I used the Fantasy Points-Per-Reception (PPR) scores for my predictions which comes from the following:
- 1 point per 25 yards passing
- 4 points per passing touchdown
- -2 points per interception thrown
- 1 point per reception
- 1 point per 10 yards rushing/receiving
- 6 points per TD
- 2 points per two-point conversion
- -2 points per fumbles lost
